Abstract

The internship placement (prakerin) process at SMK Darul Ulum is still conducted manually, which may lead to less optimal decisions in matching students with internship locations. This study aims to apply the K-Means method to cluster students based on relevant characteristics as a support tool for internship placement. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using student data that have undergone data preprocessing. The research stages include data collection, preprocessing, determining the number of clusters, and implementing the K-Means algorithm. This method is expected to support a more systematic and objective student placement process. The results indicate that the web-based system was successfully developed and effectively implemented the KMeans method to cluster student internship data based on data similarity through an iterative process until convergence. The system simplifies data management, accelerates the analysis process, and provides more objective information to support the evaluation of internship implementation. System testing confirmed that all major functions operated properly, indicating that the system is suitable for supporting decision-making in schools. Overall, the implementation of the K-Means method proved effective in clustering internship data and contributed to improving the quality of internship implementation at SMK Darul Ulum.
